Founding the University
Our goal is to deliver a comprehensive and effective educational program that aligns with the vision, values, and goals of George Hills. The genesis of GHCU was the reality that students were not going to college to seek a career in insurance claims adjusting, and even fewer in claims adjusting in the public sector. We felt an obligation to establish a sustainable education forum to continue to cultivate knowledgeable and experienced public entity adjusters. By pooling resources, we have created GHCU to be cost-effective and to present relevant technical information from industry experts.
We offer multiple certifications through GHCU for anyone interfacing with the claims process.
Public Entity Claims Professional (PECP)
The PECP is designed for adjusters and staff of public entities who are involved with their entity’s claims to build a strong foundational understanding of public entity claims in California. All George Hills claims staff complete this course work and earn the PECP designation, ensuring that every client has trained adjusters on their team.
Advanced levels of the PECP offer a career-boosting spotlight on technical reforms in the claims process for experienced adjusters. The basic level of the PECP can provide anyone with the tools and knowledge they need to begin a career in public entity claims.

Public Entity Claims Professional – Risk Management (PECP-RM)
The PECP-RM is crafted for any public entity employee who touches any part of a claim presented to their entity. This would include personnel who interface with the claims process, such as risk managers, department heads, management, board members, analysts, managers, and anyone else on your team interested in learning more. The PECP-RM provides supporting knowledge for our clients and the public in a ‘Claims 101’ style of program.
GHCU is entirely online, allowing you to earn your certification anytime, anyplace. We offer a robust resource and reference library of claims and risk management technical topics, as well as structured training courses and assessments.
GHCU is hosted on a comprehensive online Learning Management System. Access your courses from a personalized dashboard, review technical materials in the content library, and put yourself to the test with entirely online assessments all in one place. Content and courses are continuously improving and updating to maintain fresh, relevant materials to support you.
